It was the fact that rewards disappeared if a player was not fast enough.

Rival titles such as Destiny and Call of Duty still push seasonal content that fades into memory. They ask players to engage for huge amounts of time while treating the rewards as an afterthought. A player can almost feel guilty for not setting aside enough time each day to finish challenges before everything goes away forever. Supporting every old pass at once would be far more complicated than people assume.

But it gives players hope that missed rewards are not gone forever. For a game as enormous as Fortnite, that is a welcome change in 2026.
