To find out about the end of a season of Fortnite, it is simple: check in-game first! The end date can be found by opening your Battle Pass Tab and scrolling to the bottom left of the page. While Act 1 came to an end once the player community finished all needed Showdown Milestone victory goals for both factions, Act 2, dubbed The Elites, introduced Elite Stronghold Reload Map. Those players who reached the Elite rank received access on April 18 while all players received access on April 20

Epic has not revealed anything about Act 3 so far leaving much speculation regarding this subject matter. One of the most talked about theories is an Overwatch crossover; Epic has not confirmed or denied this theory. One thing that can be confirmed however is there will be a live event epilogue at season's conclusion which will be an important milestone.

Currently Epic has not scheduled an exact date for the live fate of this event; however, it is likely that the event will occur during the last week prior to June 5th judging by how prior event finales were coordinated in Fortnite. There will be a small patch to be applied and likely server downtime during and following this update and probably a queue of players trying to reconnect at the event date.

What Happens at End of Season

At the end of each season, the matchmaking will be taken offline temporarily due to scheduled maintenance performed by Epic Games. When the servers go down for an extended period of time (usually for 3-4 hours) during a major seasonal update, players cannot access Battle Royale, Zero Build, LEGO Fortnite, Festival, or other standard lobbies and experiences with UEFN.

The good news is that as long as the servers are down, you will be able to download the next seasonal update. Therefore, if you want to be ready for Chapter 7 Season 3 as soon as it starts, you should ensure your update has been downloaded in advance.

With respect to the Battle Pass, once the season is over, all of your rewards from the previous Battle Pass will be removed from the system, meaning that you cannot unlock any levels after the cutoff through earning XP. However, thanks to a new system implemented by Epic at the end of 2024, you can auto-claim your game rewards for levels where you earned enough XP but forgot to claim the rewards manually.

For example:

• If you finished the Battle Pass at Level 95

• And only claimed your rewards through Level 90

• Then when the season ends, Fortnite will auto-claim the rewards from Levels 91 to 95, since you had enough XP to qualify for them.

As for anything beyond Level 95, you cannot get rewards for levels you did not achieve. Therefore, when the season ends, you will lose any remaining rewards that could have been earned if you had achieved your goal level.

Progress Will Carry Over

A new season will not delete all of your previous progress. If you play Season 3 of Chapter 7, you will retain a significant amount of progress with your account.

Specifically, the following will carry over to the new season:

• You will continue to have any unspent V-Bucks that you currently have. Cosmetics such as skins, gliders, wraps, emotes, harvesting tools, and other earned or purchased cosmetics will still be here permanently.

Career Level The annual account Career Level will also not be lost with the Season Level Reset to 1.

When you lose your Account's Season Levels, that will affect the amount of content available on a seasonal basis. You will lose all seasonal quest progress, rivalry standings, and ANY temporary currency that you had, specifically tied to Showdown. If there is anything you still haven't finished relating to the above, then now is the time to complete it.

Missable Content

Players are also able to lose unearned Battle Pass Rewards. If you do not get the tier(s) you want from the Battle Pass Showdown before June 5, those cosmetics will be lost from your Battle Pass when the Season ends.

There is one caveat to the above; some of the Battle Pass items that were available in previous Battle Pass seasons may re-appear in the Item Shop, but they are at full retail price, which makes the active Battle Pass the much cheaper route.

There are some other deadlines that are applicable as well:

• Showdown Rivalries Cosmetics will also have an expiration date that correlates to the Season's Duration.

• Crew Pack Rewards will also depend on your billing cycle and when you are charged for the May and June Crew Packs.

• Item Shop Collaborations e.g., Toy Story or Stone Cold Steve Austin, will have different availability timelines and may expire before or after the Season ends.

If you are signed up for Crew, make sure to double-check your Crew subscription renewal date for June 1. As this is one of the things that many players forget about until it is too late to access the cosmetic. ## XP Strategy for Fortnite Before the End of The Season

Many players' goal is to reach level 200 which is the unlock for the entire Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass. There are 78 days in this season (March 19 to June 5) which breaks down to 2.56 levels per day. If you’re behind getting this far, you will need a more focused approach in the home stretch.

The quickest way to catch-up isn't by spamming one mode- it’s by using multiple XP sources so you keep making progress from different systems at the same time.

A solid late season plan is typically as follows:

1. Complete all available daily quests prior to reset.

2. Complete as many weekly quests as you can.

3. Use side modes (like LEGO Fortnite, Festival, Reload) for additional shared XP.

4. Clean up unfinished milestone quests that are still pending.

Ignoring daily quests for too long or piling up weekly quest is where many players lose thousands of XP. It adds quickly.

Good Late Season XP Resources

The following are usually considered the best sources of XP for Fortnite in the last few weeks of the season:

• The Battle Royale and Zero Build quests — These still provide the basis for efficient leveling. Daily quests give you regular income, but you want to focus on weekly quest completion because they provide such a large influx of XP.

• LEGO Fortnite and Festival quests — Both of these will continue to provide you with progress towards the same seasonal Battle Pass. Participating in festivals can provide lots of opportunities to progress as well as spending time in LEGO sessions.

Reload Mode - With Elite Stronghold currently in rotation, Reload mode will provide a fast gameplay loop while netting players decent xp rewards on average per game as well during the milestone window for Act 2.

Milestone Quests – Each player has many opportunities to ignore the milestone quests for most of the season; and yet, these quests can provide the biggest boost to players when getting near the end of the season (late-game). Players who get eliminations and travel a specific distance, chest openings and so forth through out their time can get more xp through these accomplishments than they could through other ways; combined with the aforementioned quests above, these cumulative items can add a significant amount of progress.

In most instances players that push hard through the last week will usually find themselves performing milestone cleanup with their weekly questing & pushing to be their best duo for completing challenges.

Mistakes During Last Week Grinding

There are a few mistakes that I have seen plaguing different players over the past few seasons, AND each of these mistakes WILL have a negative effect on your final progress.

• Stacking the quest until the very end. When questers are trying to complete their quest stacks right before the end of the tourney, they end up making it very difficult for them to complete their quest in their last week to play.

• Not planning for down-time. This is especially important on the night of June 5th; had players planned to play on June 5; June 5 at 1:30 AM Eastern, your playing will potentially end due to servers going down, will be an instant end for all of your plans that you had made.

• They will lose the Epilogue period. Players should not underestimate how much these will impact your feedback-loop and it’s 100% permanent loss. Though there have been instances in the past where Fortnite had an end-of-season event that was re-created, players will only have a singular chance to experience anything major happening at the conclusion of Showdown.

End Dates of Other Fortnite Modes

While most Fortnite modes aren’t on the exact same schedule as the core battle royale, it is worth noting that those alterations can affect players who have split time between experiences.

Fortnite OG operated its season 7 from December 11 until March 31 of the next year, just past the end of chapter 7 season 1. After Epic adjusted their OG seasons in 2025 to be more similar to the regular battle royale season schedule, we expect an OG Season refresh around the time of season 3 or soon thereafter.

Fortnite Festival operates entirely separate from the battle royale timeline. Each Festival season runs on its own timeline tied to each featured artist & their Music Pass rotation instead of following a Battle Royale timeline. For example, the Chappell Roan Festival ended on April 16, 2026 but concluded well before Showdown had concluded, so you will need to track that separately if you want to finish your Festival music pass.
